Lacey scarf

On the needles at the moment are : 1/ Lizzy socks, still not done, only a third of the second sock left.2/ The orange cardigan, still comatose... just not interested at the moment.3/ Lacey scarf aka Leaf Scarf by Nerdcoop. She wrote up a beautiful pdf file with the pattern and a great chart but she doesn't feel it's worthy of being put up on Ravelry... I disagree but anyway, this is what it looks like: Yup, those are leaves! It will look alot better when it's had a good pinning down and steam.I reached the halfway point this... [Lire la suite]

Mexico and my first time on the american continent

We left for Mexico on the 19th December. We had a flight from CDG airport in Paris at 13:00.However boyfriend was worried because we had no eticket. When we booked the flight at the beginning of August, we got an eticket, then the company we were flying with changed their flight times and so we got the notification but no eticket. So once we had a coffee and got our boarding passes, he losened up !!!! We also did a little last minute « crap I forgot to buy what my mother asked me to bring her » style shopping which we managed... [Lire la suite]

A resumé of 2008

OK folks, I'm back from the american continent... more about that later. I thought I'd start with a little résumé of what knitting got done in 2008, this is an easier subject to start the year with since I still haven't downloaded my photos from Mexico (partly scared they're all blurred and also I don't think I have enough space in the computer to accomodate them all which would mean cleaning it out... bah really not the moment!). I had a loss of my knitting "mojo" at the beginning of the year which resulted in a load of... [Lire la suite]

Lots of plans !

OK, so second try at this after a stupid keyboard mistake, stupid back button... So, let's start with what's finished up One Coronet hat Very nice, finished yesterday evening, worn today and my head thanks my fingers for this. It protects from freezing winds. A sucess ! One finished Lizzy sock A very nice pattern, some complexities at the motif sections and then mindless ribbing elsewhere. I like ;-) As you know, well I think I mentionned it, I am flying to Mexico for 2 weeks of holidays. I will finally be... [Lire la suite]

Lots of news !

Written on the 10th Dec: Just so you know I did block the scarf on the 26th Nov... ! I haven't written in a while, time just flew by... again work has been crazy and they also announced the redundancies so it's been difficult. My job is not directly concerned but at the end of March they look at how many people have left on their own (designated jobs have been pin pointed where there are too many people) and then they start sending lettres according to social criteria... which means I'm in the first 10 out !!!So, I've been... Nutkin socks finished

Yesterday eveing instead of blocking the scarf as planned in yesterday's blogpost, I finished the second Nutkin sock.I'm really happy with the result. As alot of people have already said, they are not very stretchy in the leg so they are a little difficult to put on but once they're on, they are great.I am wearing them at work as I write ! Feet nice and toasty !!!Ok here's the final picture (on the coffee table this morning in the dark): So maybe tonight between dinner and dancing, I'll manage to start blocking the scarf. I... Progress has been made

So, to respect the order of the last post, let's start with the entrelac scarf: It's finished !!!! Yay and it's also very cold where I live, we had our first snow yesterday and a tiny bit on Saturday too. Tonight is blocking night and I'll weave in the 3 or 4 ends there are. A very satisfying knit. Done in just under a month including a complete freeze of progress for the sock war.I'll be wearing this with my black felt coat for the rest of the winter. There is yarn left over... my thoughts are clearing... we'll see where... It's been a busy month

So, apart from busting my guts to satisfy my big and scary client, yup that is 55 hour weeks in 5 days... let's not talk about that anymore !, I have also been knitting like a crazy person. Here is the promised photo of the pullover: The photo isn't great. When I wear it to work, I put a square neck black top underneath and the shoulders stay straight instead of slanting off to the sides. A few more people at work noticed it and I've had only compliments... although I suppose the people who think it looks ridiculous just... [Lire la suite]

The scarf is fun

The scarf and I are now best friends. This is nothing like last winter's scarf wasteland where I thought I would never get back into something so pretty and pleasant to knit again. Now, let me remind you that this is my first Entrelac knitting, so I am still quite dependant on the instructions for the increasing and decreasing triangles on the sides. It all started out fine, I even wanted to see the effect after blocking so I took my 12 first centimeters to the ironing board and gave the pretty thing a good steam. Then, happy... [Lire la suite]

An FO, a half FO and a newly cast on project

This has been an intense week. I was in training near Paris for 3 days : had to stay at a hotel with no internet connection (I think I'm addicted!), got to watch a movie in "VO" in the Champs Elysées, that means with no subtitles and the original voices, stumbled upon a Renault exposition and an aeronautical one too, went to have a look at the Renault showroom on the Champs Elysées, tasted real Haagen Daas ice cream from one of their own branches, went to Starbucks to buy an airtight coffee cup (present for boyfriend who...
