New book !

I got home on Tuesday evening only to find a great surprise in my letter box. I still haven't had time to sit down with a square of chocolate and a steaming cup of Russian Earl Grey tea, but this will be happening very soon ! This is the book I am so excited to have: More about the content later but just by leafing through it, I think I'm going to love it!!! And a little progress report on the Nutkin sock: I've started the heel section but it's not going so great: I'm supposed to have 32 stitches and even though... [Lire la suite]

New sock !

It's been a week. So what has happened in that week ?! First of all I had to go and meet with my client in Germany. That induced alot of stress and running about. So, knitting wise not a good week for calmly sewing up the sweater. No progress on that ! It's a pity because it's now time to heat the office a little and my home is getting a slight bit chilly and will not get warmer anytime soon... I resist putting the radiators on the longest possible! So, since I took a plane on Tuesday evening, I made some progress on the... [Lire la suite]

Hiking in the vineyards

I didn't mention this in yesterday's blogpost: I went on a long hike on Sunday in the vineyards. And it was one of the harvesting weekends. Champagne is particular in the fact that all grapes musst be hand picked. This creates alot of work during approx. 2 weeks per year in the middle of September. Anyway, this is what I saw yesterday, I thought I'd share. Vines loaded with ripe and sweet grapes (Pinot Noir) Some people picking the grapes from afar. Notice how tidy the vines are even though they're laden with... [Lire la suite]

A weeks worth of knitting

The weekends' weather was glorious and exactly as I like it: Very sunny and cool, that's about 15°C at the moment. Saturday was spent finishing a pair of socks which will leave for their new owner on Monday: And, I had time and space to attack the gipsy sweater, started last september (says Ravelry, very good tool for keeping track of one's procrastination!!!)... I actually gave it a block: I was actually amazed at the result after blocking the knitted parts of the sweater. I started with a sleeve and started out as a... [Lire la suite]

Iknit Day spoils

It was a lovely sunny day on Sunday so I got some good pictures of my purchases from Iknit Day in London on the 6th Sept. I thought I'd share: First up, some "man sock" yarn. This is from The Knittery. I'd been searching the web for appropriate yarn colourways for a man's socks and was getting anxious! I saw this at Socktopus's stand and thought "It's now or never" ! I just have to find a good "man pattern" now, and these should be knit up before 2009. I was on a roll... I saw another... [Lire la suite]

Back for good I hope

OK, I've been a bad bad blogger... I've left with no news for quite a few months now and I suppose nobody reads me anymore... Let's try to catch up ! On a personnal front, my job has gone through the roof. I got a big project and everything is a bit hectic and intense but it's going well for the moment !I also have a great boyfriend, you will see how great later on in this post ;-)I almost got a kitten (grey female) but because of boyfriend's professional situation, I thought I should wait a little bit. There are always plenty of... [Lire la suite]

A lovely box from La Giettaz

When I was on my skiing trip, I came back from the slopes to find the shower already occupied so I decided to go out to get some postcards. I entered a shop where everything was made by hand by the owner (last season because he was retiring) and hand painted by his daughter. I wandered around and got caught up in a conversation between the owner and a tourist: the tourist had in hand a pair of salad implements (fork and spoon for stirring salad) but instead of being separate they were twisted in each other (sorry no photo) so the... It's Spring

OK I'm back.... life took over for a while, work was stressful, not much knitting got done and I was ill for a while but I'm alive and kicking now and actually feeling alot better than I usually do! So now, instead of buring the candle at both ends, I'm burning one end intensly !!! I have a new interest : hiking/walking. This I came up with while looking for a suitable summer holiday. I like the idea of chilling out (with something lacy to knit on my lap) by a gorgeous swimming pool in a luxurious hotel. However, the luxury of... [Lire la suite]

Some new things...

I'm really excited, look what was in my letterbox yesterday when I got back from a long day at work. Yes, that's right, I ordered all of Stephanie's books at the beginning of the year. Sadly, yesterday evening I was too tired for reading but you see I have to go into town this afternoon and when I get back I will be sitting down with a cup of freshly brewed in my lovely teapot with loose leaves tea and some honey to read "Knitting rules". Would it be double dosing to knit while reading that ??!!! It's nice and... [Lire la suite]

Short midnight rant about knitting

A quick note to show progress on the January Mystery Sock which is officially no longer a mystery because all people who have access to the Sockdown and the forum associated on Ravelry have already seen the finished photo posted by Deb... but just in case don't scroll down if you still want a surprise! So, here it was yesterday evening when I threw it down in disgust realizing I'd a stitch missing and would have to frog all the yarnovers and knit 2 together or even worse the ssk's went to bed: And after much dedicated row...
