Worrying...

We just found out at work that the following weeks, the place will be closed due to financial difficulties : 9, 13, 17, 21 & 25... Wow, that's alot of knitting time! with no consequences on my pay ... on the plus side.On the minus side, how am I going to get all my work done ?! I am one of the lucky ones, I still have a full plate of work. I also have to take 12 days of holidays + 1 day a month of compensation... I'll be at home more than at work. It'll cost me in heating (I have a timer which cuts the heating just before I... [Lire la suite]

New book !

I got home on Tuesday evening only to find a great surprise in my letter box. I still haven't had time to sit down with a square of chocolate and a steaming cup of Russian Earl Grey tea, but this will be happening very soon ! This is the book I am so excited to have: More about the content later but just by leafing through it, I think I'm going to love it!!! And a little progress report on the Nutkin sock: I've started the heel section but it's not going so great: I'm supposed to have 32 stitches and even though... [Lire la suite]

Hiking in the vineyards

I didn't mention this in yesterday's blogpost: I went on a long hike on Sunday in the vineyards. And it was one of the harvesting weekends. Champagne is particular in the fact that all grapes musst be hand picked. This creates alot of work during approx. 2 weeks per year in the middle of September. Anyway, this is what I saw yesterday, I thought I'd share. Vines loaded with ripe and sweet grapes (Pinot Noir) Some people picking the grapes from afar. Notice how tidy the vines are even though they're laden with... [Lire la suite]

Christmas market

This is mainly a knitting at home weekend with the sun shining into the lounge making it really nice & warm (peeked at 24,5°C with about 3°C outside).I did however put a foot outside to go on a shopping spree at Phildar's clothes section (had 20% off whole shop thanks to my shop card) to buy appropriate clothes for the new job.And of course, I went and had a quick look around the christmas market which is not easy to photograph and looks like this:     And I also noticed the centre of town church was nicely lit: ... New job, new pay ...

... but no place to sit and work !!! Yup, that"s right, on Friday new boss said on Monday you have to move to our office so I thought yeah right you're not serious but I couldn't really tell if he was or not. So this morning I put my stuff down in old office and went to visit new office and of course new team. I got ahold of new boss and asked "ok then where's this great desk I'm moving to", I at least got a look of half shame half amusement!!!! It was worth it. So looking uncomfortable, he said euh maybe next... [Lire la suite]

Lots of goodies and things to see

As you know I went to Tunisia this week with work... The place I go to is a town called Hammamet which is really well known as a holiday place and obviously there aren't any "simple" hotels so we have to stay in a holiday "ressort" type hotel which looks like this from my window :            ... and a sock photo (inspired by the Yarn Harlot!) The inside is amazing also in a Disney-way, I love it but my photos didn't work out... maybe next time. Also, work related, I signed... [Lire la suite]

Ravelry and a nice postal surprise

As everyone has already said in their blogs, Ravelry is a great tool/community.It's a great way to organise projects to come, the stash and list all wips or ufos... it puts alot of things in perspective... and then there's the forum and the groups where you can ask for no end of help. The amazing thing is to have such a big community, this means that you ask the question in the right place (which is very easy) and people all over are connected and can answer rapidly. Such an access to yarn world is mind boggling! So, you might have... [Lire la suite]

Another week...

... went by. What a week: On Monday I was up in a factory up North (of France for new-comers) so I got up early and got home not so late for once plus my day went well because our tests worked out great! Then Tuesday was a pretty normal day but Wednesday went on forever I had to get a train for Paris which left at 6:45 so that was an early start, then I had the interview for the really cool job and I caught a plane (or rather 2 planes) to Slovakia (the coolest place on earth... ok NOT !!!) and got to the hotel at 01:00. That was... [Lire la suite]
